Gradients help you enhance the visual appeal of your design and unleash your creativity by offering the flexibility to create new colors. Considering the importance of gradients, Figma has offered tools curated for it.
In this guide, we will help you make a gradient in Figma through a demonstration to get you covered.
Make a Gradient in Figma
- Start by selecting the frame or shape in Figma. Next, open the color menu by clicking the Color square under the Fill section in the Properties Panel.

- Now, you’re displayed with the color palette and on top of that, you will find several icons from which to select the Gradient (second icon from the left).
- On clicking the Gradient icon, two color bars are added to the shape with the gradient bar. However, you change the gradient type by clicking on the drop-down, and the options are Linear (default), Radial, Angular, and Diamond.

- For demonstration, we proceeded with Linear, and after selecting the colors for both color boxes, the gradient was generated. However, if you want to work with more color boxes (Gradient stop), you can add them by clicking on + or delete them by clicking on – from the Stops section.

- If you want to modify the gradient’s appearance, you can adjust the location of gradient stops by dragging them.

Here is the final result after we have changed the stop position and modified the opacity levels.

Wrapping Up
Congratulations on learning how to make gradients in Figma!
While we have explained how to make gradients for a frame or a shape, the process remains almost the same for other elements. Hence, consider the steps as a reference and make gradients for the layer of your choice by experimenting and referring to the Figma files of other creators.
