Figma is a design tool that also allows you to edit images. However, if you’re trying to remove the background in Figma, no tool has been offered specifically for it. In this demonstration featuring simple steps, we will use a Pen tool to remove the background.
Remove Background in Figma
- Navigate to Figma on your browser and open the design file you’re working on from Recently viewed. Once the file is loaded, click on the Figma icon in the top left corner and from the options displayed, click on File and then Place image.
- After the image is added, navigate to the toolbar and load the Pen tool.
- Now, start marking using the Pen tool, ensuring that the background isn’t selected.
- Once you have completed selecting the area, click on Done present at the top left corner.
- To remove the background, start by right-clicking on the selected area and then Send to back to move the image layer to the front.
- After adjusting the position of the layers, select both the image layer and the vector layer created, and then click on the Use as Mask option on the toolbar.
- If you have done it right, the selected area will be marked, and the outline will be displayed.
- To complete the background removal process, navigate to the Properties panel on the right and click on + associated with Fill.
Here is the final result after removing the background with the Pen tool.
