Changing opacity in a design helps you control visibility and focus, making key elements stand out or blend smoothly. If you’re new to Figma and are changing opacity for the first time, this guide featuring a simple demonstration will get you covered.
Change Opacity in Figma
- Open Figma on your browser and sign in with your credentials. Now sign in with your credentials and open the design file you’re working on from Recently viewed.

- After the design file is loaded, select the layer on which you wish to change the opacity. For demonstration, we have added an image and will change its opacity.

- After the layer is selected, navigate to the Fill section in the design tab on the right. Now, find the input box and change the value or drag the slider to increase or decrease the value.

- We have set the value to 40%, and the opacity has decreased. These steps aren’t limited to images and you can change the opacity for any layer that supports Fill.
