Figma doesn’t support changing the color of an image. However, if the image is a transparent .PNG, you can adjust its color. In this guide, we’ll walk you through a simple demonstration to show you how to do it.
Change Color of Image in Figma
- Open Figma on your browser and sign in with your credentials. Now, open the existing design you’re working from Recently viewed. If you haven’t started, click on the New design file.

- Once the new or existing design is loaded, navigate to the toolbar and click on the Figma icon. From the options that are displayed, click on File and then Place image.

- After the image is added to the canvas, add a rectangle, which is enough to cover the entire image to the canvas, and change its color.

- Now, drag and place the rectangle over the image and select both. Ensure the image is placed under the rectangle.

- By doing so, the options in the toolbar are updated. Now, click on Use as mask to change the color of the image.

- If you do it right, you will notice the color of the image change, as shown below.

Wrapping Up
Congratulations on learning how to change the color of an image in Figma!
While the above steps are a way around, and Figma doesn’t offer a tool to change images, they come in handy if you’re working with icons. However, keep in mind that this method changes the color of the entire image and doesn’t allow for changing specific areas.
