If you’re working on prototypes, you might notice that the background is set to black by default. In case you’re trying to change and can’t figure it out, this guide featuring a simple demonstration will help you change the Figma prototype background.
Change Figma Prototype Background Color
- Start by navigating to Figma on your browser and sign in with your credentials. Now, access the file featuring the prototype by clicking on it from the Recently viewed.

- After the file is loaded, ensure the prototype is created. For demonstration, we have created a prototype where clicking on an ellipse changes the colour.

- If you do it right, the Prototype tab will appear in the Properties panel. Before clicking on it, ensure that none of the design’s layers are selected to find the Background option.

- Now, change the colour by clicking on the colour icon and selecting the colour from the palette. You can also enter the colour code in the input field provided or use the colour picker.

- After you change the background colour, click on the Present button in the top right corner.

- The prototype lab is loaded in a new tab, and you will notice that the prototype’s background has been changed successfully.
