If you’re working on a large design in Figma, you might find the sidebar distracting and consuming a large amount of canvas. To address this, Figma has offered the ability to hide it, and through this guide, we will teach you how to do it to through a demonstration.
Note: The below approach, which hides the sidebar, also hides the rest of the UI, as Figma doesn’t offer the flexibility to hide it specifically.
Hide Figma Sidebar
- Navigate to Figma on your browser and sign in with your credentials. Next, open the existing design you’re working on from Recently viewed.

- However, if you haven’t started yet, click on the New design file button to create a new design file.

- After the new/existing design file is loaded, press Command + \ for macOS and Ctrl + \ for Windows.
- If you do it right, the sidebar and the entire UI will be hidden. However, if you’re not comfortable with key combinations, click on the Figma icon in the toolbar to find several options. From the available options, click on View and then Show/Hide UI to hide the sidebar.
