Understanding the concept of flow, which connects multiple frames, is essential when creating a functional prototype on Figma. In this guide, we will help you with creating a flow through a simple demonstration to get you covered.
Create a Flow in Figma
- Navigate to Figma and sign in with your credentials. After a successful sign-in, navigate to the Recently viewed section and open the design you’re working on.

- After loading the existing design, select the layers you want to include in the flow. For demonstration, we added two rectangles to the canvas, selected them individually, and converted them into frames by right-clicking and choosing Frame Selection.

- With all the layers that you want to make a flow between converted as frames, navigate to the right and click on Prototype.

- After clicking on Prototype, you will notice that the frames have flow points on four sides. Now, select one flow point and link it to another frame to create a flow.

Wrapping Up
Congratulations on learning how to create a flow in Figma!
The above steps will help you to create a flow regardless of the design you’re working with. While creating a flow, keep in mind that a frame can only have one flow starting point, and the prototype functions based on the flow created.
