If you’re new to Figma and are trying to work with components, you might have tried to create an instance. In this guide, we will help you with creating an instance in multiple ways to get you covered.
Create an Instance of a Component
- Start by navigating to Figma and sign in with your credentials. Now open the design file you’re working with from the Recently viewed.
- After the existing design is loaded, navigate to the component and click on it to select it. For demonstration, we have added a shape to the design and made it a component.
- Next, click on the Assets tab on the left, navigate to the Local Components section, find the component you want to create an instance, and click on it.
- If you do it right, you will find the Insert instance option, and clicking on it creates an instance.
Pro Tip: You can also create an instance by selecting the component and using the Ctrl + C / Cmd + C to copy the component and pressing Ctrl + V / Cmd + V to paste the component as an instance.
