Transferring ownership in Figma streamlines collaboration, making it easier for your team or an individual to take complete control and manage the project/file efficiently. In this guide, we will demonstrate how to transfer ownership of a Figma file to get you covered.

Transfer Ownership of Figma File

  1. Navigate to Figma and sign in with your credentials. Next, open the design file from which you want to transfer ownership from Recently viewed.

  1. After the design file is loaded, navigate to the Share button in the toolbar at the top right corner and click on it.

  1. Doing so opens the Share dialog box, enter the name or the email address in the associated input field provided, set the permission to can edit, and then click on the Invite button.

  1. After the invite is sent and the individual or team member accepts it, the dialog updates by adding the person’s name in the Who has access section.

  1. Now change the permission from can view/can edit to Owner from the dropdown associated (Refer to the image below for better understanding).

  1. If you do it right, the Transfer ownership dialog box appears, featuring two buttons. Click Transfer ownership to perform a successful transfer of ownership.
