Figma’s Library lets you share reusable design assets, which is handy when collaborating with others, especially teams. In this guide, we will help you with creating a library in Figma through a demonstration to get you covered.
Note: The library feature is available on the Professional plan, and you must upgrade if you’re on the free plan.
Create a Library in Figma
- Open Figma on your browser and sign in with your credentials. Next, open the design you’re working on from Recently viewed. If you haven’t started yet, click on the New design file.

- After the new or existing design is loaded, add the layers to the canvas and finish your design, ensuring it has at least one component, variable, or style.

- Once done with the design, navigate to the Assets tab on the left and click on the Libraries icon.

- By doing so, you will find a Libraries extension, in which you click on the Publish button associated with the current file.

- Now, you will find the Publish Library box loaded, and to create a library, add a description and click on Publish.

- If you do it right, you will find the “Successfully published library updates” text at the bottom.

- With the library published, open a new Figma design file and repeat Step 4 to open the Publish Library box. Now, find the library you have created from the list and click on Add to file.
