Adding frames in Figma is easy, but if you’re new to Figma, you might have a difficult time ungrouping a frame as there isn’t an option for it. In this guide, we will teach you to unframe through a demonstration to get you covered.
Unframe a Frame in Figma
- Open Figma on your browser and sign in with your credentials. Next, open the design file you’re working on from the Recently viewed.

- With the existing design loaded, navigate to the frame you’re working on and click on it to select it. For demonstration, we selected a frame featuring an image and text and right-clicked on it.

- If you notice, there isn’t an option to unframe. To do this, click on Ungroup, and you will see the contents inside the frame displayed as individual layers.

Quick Tip: You can also unframe the frame by selecting it and pressing Ctrl + Backspace key combination.
Wrapping Up
Congratulations on learning how to unframe in Figma!
While this is arguably the only available approach to unframe in Figma, if you have an integrated frame as the bottom layer, keep in mind that it gets removed. Hence, after the frame is removed, add the missing layers to ensure there are irregularities in the design.
