If you’re new to Figma and working with frames, you might run into a problem where you can’t remove it. You probably tried to delete the frame, but that also deleted the layers inside it. To make things more confusing, there’s no option to remove the frame.
In this guide, we will help you delete/remove the frame in Figma without affecting the children (nested layers) through a simple demonstration to get you covered.
Delete Frame in Figma
- Open Figma on your browser and sign in with your credentials. Now, open the file you’re working from the Recently viewed section on the home screen.

- After the design is loaded, select the frame you want to delete. For demonstration, we created a frame featuring multiple layers.

- Most select the frame, right-click, and search for Unframe from the available options. Unfortunately, there isn’t one, and to remove the frame or a group, the option remains common, which is Ungroup.

- After clicking on Ungroup or pressing Command/Ctrl + Delete, you can see that it is removed while keeping the nested layers as is.

Wrapping Up
Congratulations on learning how to delete/unframe a frame in Figma!
Removing, deleting, or unframing a frame is simpler than it seems. It’s just that there isn’t an option for it. However, by following the steps outlined, you can easily ungroup frames while keeping your design intact.
