Figma includes built-in tools to draw shapes like rectangles, lines, arrows, ellipses, polygons, and stars. However, there isn’t a tool for making a half circle. In this guide, we will demonstrate how to make a half circle in Figma using the Ellipse tool with a simple example to get you covered.
Make a Half Circle in Figma
- Open Figma on your browser and sign in with your credentials. Once you have successfully signed in, open the design file you’re working on from Recently viewed.
- After the design file is loaded, navigate to the toolbar and click on Shape tools. Now, from the list, click on Ellipse. Alternatively, you can press O to load the ellipse.
- With the ellipse tool loaded, drag it over the canvas to draw an ellipse. Once done, navigate to the Fill section in the Design tab of the Properties panel and select a color to add to the ellipse.
- To make a half-circle, find the Arc option and move it to find the Sweep option displayed.
- Now, adjust the Sweep to 50% or -50% to make a half circle in Figma.
- If you want no color and just an outline, remove the Fill by clicking on – associated with it. Next, add the Stroke by clicking +, modify the color, and increase the stroke value for visibility.
- If you don’t want the bottom line, find the Ratio option, set it to 100%, and you will have a half circle like below.
